Updated: March 26, 2008 Wisco Homeys in the Pro Peloton Garrett Peltonen's Blog USA Cycling License Information Did you know that $10 of your annual USA Cycling membership is returned to WCA to help provide things like rider upgrade processing, officials training and recruitment, and resources to promoters? Every membership a Wisconsin rider takes directly helps racing in Wisconsin. Are you racing with a one-day license? If a rider purchases up to two one-day licenses and sends in the receipt(s), the rider can get up to $10($5 per one-day) off the annual membership. This means that the "try before you buy" concept will cost the rider no money. The rider will have to mail in the license application with the receipts attached as currently USAC does not have a way to make this work with the online system however, go ahead an try cycling and then consider an annual membership. WCA News Please Note: Two Races Canceled The Oconomowoc criterium, hosted by Velo Trocodero, scheduled for April 18 has been canceled. Says race organizer Luke Holtan, "The city of Oconomowoc has asked that we not use our initial course, and their suggested course would require us to hire city employees for the day, has little to no parking, poor start finish for the WCA truck, and would impact a lot of homeowners. This is too much for our team to handle on such short notice." Beans & Barley's Back Road TT, originally scheduled for June 6has also been canceled. According to race organizer Kurt Otter, "Because of nearby road closures scheduled to take all summer, there is a substantial increase in traffic on our TT route. It is not safe to run this year." Please make note of these changes in the WCA racing calendar. WCA Extends Positive Thoughts to Paul Warloski Beans and Barley rider Paul Warloski was hit by a truck while riding his bike on Saturday, March 14. He is currently recovering in the hospital from his accident. Local Wisconsin rider Mike Heenan says, "Paul is doing well. I went over and had lunch with him at the hospital today [March 18]. He is in great spirits and very much looking forward to getting back in the saddle. As a result of his accident he has a titanium rod in his left femur, a broken thumb, a skin graft covering a large portion of his left quad, and a possible torn rotatetor cuff. It looks like he will be staying in the hospital for a little bit and doing some re-hab before he is allowed to go home. Paul has a great spirit and outlook on what has happened, I am quite certain that he will be back on a bike sooner than expected. Paul will be updating his status on his blog - warloski.blogspot.com ."
